Stay Safe This Spring!

Published on Apr 02, 2019

With warmer temperatures and sunnier forecasts comes severe spring weather -- hence the popular saying, "April showers brings May flowers." As the chance for thunderstorms, tornadoes, and flooding increases, make sure you and your family are well prepared. Important safety precautions include:

  • Keeping important information handy, such as:
    • Insurance and property information
    • Contact info to reach relatives & friends
    • Medical information
    • Phone numbers to reach utility companies
  • Having essentials, including:
    • First-aid kit
    • Flashlights and batteries
    • Food (at least a three-day supply)
    • Water (one gallon per day, per person)
    • Cell phone & portable charger

- Setting an emergency plan for your family
- Ensure that everyone knows who to call in an emergency
- Designate a meeting place in case of separation
- Stay connected!
- Staying updated in severe weather conditions
- Know the forecast and when it is safe to travel
- Prepare your home by securing fixtures and furniture, protecting windows and doors, and clearing any hazards
