I'm a Student Driver and Trying to Save - What Can I do?

Published on Aug 13, 2020

Many student drivers are notorious for having bad driving records and, as a result, car insurance can be expensive until you are far into your twenties. Thankfully, there are a few factors that can help you get some discounts; here are a few you can look into!

1. Your GPA - if you are maintaining a "B" or better grade average (or show proof of a good SAT or ACT score), you can qualify for a discount!

2. Your residence - if you are attending a school away from home and not using your car, you can qualify for a discount since you're not driving as much; on the other hand, if you are still living at home and under your parents' plan, you could also save more than if you were on your own separate plan.

3. Your degree - if you're a grad student, it's assumed you're a bit older and more responsible. Once you reach your mid-twenties, your premium will keep dropping as long as you keep a clean driving record.

All in all, having the responsibility as a driver will always cost you a great deal. Especially as a young adult finding your way through college, it's important to utilize the best deals you can find and budget your money wisely. Fortunately, our agents can help you save as much as possible -- remember to contact us today if you're in the search for car insurance at the best price!
